Tea & Recovery

Body-first recovery for people who've been through a lot.

Tea & Recovery is a warm, welcoming space built around a simple truth: the body recovers first, and the mind follows. We bring herbal teas, bodywork, education, and peer support together into one community gathering — rooted in the science of neurochemical depletion and real harm reduction.

Intense experiences — whether that's a kink event, a convention weekend, a difficult scene, or a period of substance use — don't just take a mental toll. They deplete your body: minerals, hydration, neurotransmitters, nervous system regulation, and physical tissue. Tea & Recovery was designed with that reality front and center.

When your dopamine, serotonin, and endorphin stores are genuinely depleted, no amount of "just think positive" is going to fix it. You need physical recovery first — the mental clarity comes back once the body is resourced. That's the core philosophy Tea & Recovery runs on, and it's backed by the neurochemistry education we teach through TCAP (The Chemicals at Play).

What we address — body first, mind always:

  • Neurochemical depletion: supporting dopamine, serotonin, and endorphin restoration through nourishment and rest
  • Mineral and hydration replenishment after physical exertion or substance use
  • Nervous system downregulation — helping your body come out of fight/flight/freeze
  • Physical recovery: muscle soreness, tension, and connective tissue care
  • Subdrop, top drop, and rope drop processing
  • Scene processing and difficult emotional aftermath
  • Harm reduction check-ins and community support

Every event is stocked with carefully selected herbal teas — formulated for recovery. We typically serve a nervous system restoration blend (think: oatstraw, linden, nettle — mineral-rich, deeply nourishing) alongside a burnout recovery blend (lemon balm, nettle, rosemary — for when you're mentally fried but need to come back online). Tea is always the first thing offered. Everyone gets a cup.

What a Tea & Recovery event looks like:

  • Comfortable, low-key space — floor cushions, couches, warm lighting, snacks
  • Herbal teas formulated for neurochemical and physical recovery
  • Bodywork stations: muscle work, cupping, and structural care
  • Educators on hand — trainers, nurses, doctors, and sports medicine professionals who get our communities
  • Peer support circles facilitated by trained community members
  • Harm reduction conversation, not lecture — meet people where they are
  • No clocks, no rush, no pressure

We've run Tea & Recovery at conventions across the country and host a monthly gathering in Houston, TX. Whether you're processing a con weekend, coming down from an intense scene, supporting someone else through drop, or just need to be somewhere safe and soft for a few hours — you're welcome here.

About the donation model:

  • Suggested donation: $5–40 depending on how much you partake
  • Completely donation-based — no one is ever turned away for inability to pay
  • Those who can afford it help cover those who can't — pay it forward
  • No gatekeeping. No means test. Just come.
Tea & Recovery is peer support — not therapy, not medical care. Our bodywork providers and health professionals are offering education and community care, not medical treatment. Trainers are trained community members. If you're in a medical emergency, please call emergency services.
